A public rally was organised at Sector 20 to welcome one of the four Sangharsh Sandesh Jathas, which was flagged off from Jallianwalla Bagh,Amritsar, under the leadership of CPM politburo member Brinda Karat.

Hundreds of people, including CPI(M) members, industrial workers, employees, students and women assembled to welcome the CPI(M) leaders with ‘lal salaam’.

Karat said,“The economic policies of the Congress-led UPA government are anti-people and anti-nation. Whether it is the BJP or the Congress, both are busy pleasing big corporates and industrialists, and nobody is concerned about the working class. The result is that the gap between the rich and poor is widening.”

Calling the movement a fight of the poor class,Brinda Karat said,“The Sangharsh Sandesh Jatha highlights the issues of poor people who are being exploited by capitalists.” She further stressed on the scrapping of APL/BPL and said that every family should get food grains at the price of Rs 2 per kg per month.

Talking about replacing the present system, she said,“People need alternative policies and CPI(M) is the answer”.

“The rally was also addressed by Hannan Mollah Central Secretariat member CPI(M) and central committee members.

A mass rally will be organised at Ramlila Ground,Delhi,on March 19,where all the four Jathas will culminate and apprise people about the anti-nation policies of the present government.
