Shiromani Akali Dal on Friday strongly opposed the proposal of the Congress-led UPA government to convert the black money stashed in foreign banks as white by levying 45 per cent tax and said that the proposal was a tool to save the scam-tainted leaders of the ruling alliance.

Reacting to media reports that the UPA government is coming out with a new proposal to convert black money into white party secretary and spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said it was surprising that this proposal to convert black money into white has come at a time when people of the country were already in shock after a series of scams. He said SAD would not allow this proposal to be implemented as its implementation would set the worst precedent.
