Rajasthan youngster Ojaswini Saraswat emerged as the overall winner with a par score of 72 in the first Governor’s Cup being conducted by Chandigarh Golf Association at Chandigarh Golf Club on Wednesday.

Saraswat emerged as the winner by edging out Juntas Sandhu, who carded a score of one-over-73. The third spot in the overall category was claimed by Rabab Kahlon, who carded a score of two-under-74.

In the U-10 net score girls’ category, Pavani emerged as the winner with a score of 37, while Ananr Kaur claimed the second spot with a score of 44. In the boys’ event in the same category, Aarav Kumar claimed the title with a score of 26, while Nihal Cheema claimed the second spot with a score of 40.

In the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) boys’ net score category, Shiv Kumar claimed the top spot with a score of 65, while Kishan secured the second spot with a score of 69. In the girls’ gross score category in the EWS section, Aarti Mishra claimed the title with a score of 27-over-99. In the boys’ gross score category in the EWS section, Ajay claimed the title with a score of two-over-74, while Vikas Shukla claimed the second spot with a score of three-over-75.

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria gave away the prizes to the winners. “I appreciate the Chandigarh Golf Association for providing excellent training facilities at the CGA Golf range and their efforts in promoting golf in Chandigarh and the surrounding areas. The initiative to promote golf in the EWS category is also a right step in this direction,” said Kataria.

Ten golf coaches at CGA, namely Mahesh Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Pal Singh, Servar Hussain, Preetinder Kaur, Ram Pal, Rajinder Kumar, Darshan Lal, Surjit Mandal and Vijay Yadav, were also honoured in the function.
