All flood-control claims made by the administration were exposed as water entered several residential areas after heavy rain here on Sunday. The rainwater flooded both cities of Ambala as in 36 hours, about 100 mm rainfall was recorded, which is the highest so far of the season.

Scenes of traffic jams were observed as vehicles had hard time to wade through the roads that were submerged in ankle-deep water. The residents blamed both the administration, the municipal corporation and municipal council for the chaotic conditions.

Meanwhile, Ambala-Hissar highway has been completely closed for traffic with immediate effect on Sunday. The orders have been issued by the Deputy Commissioner Dr Shaleen through an advisory, which stated the National Highway 44 from Ambala to Ludhiana should not be used as it has been affected due to rains.
