In a first,all jails in Punjab will recharge underground water by installing rainwater harvesting plants.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna,during his visit to Kapurthala jail on Tuesday,said he would spend his MP funds to install the rainwater harvesting plants in all the 22 jails of the state. This would not only recharge groundwater but also help in utlisation of rainwater.
Khanna said every year,the water level in the state goes down by one metre. If this continues,the state will soon turn into a desert. He also called upon the jail inmates to save every drop of water. He told them various methods for saving water. Every commercial building as well as big houses in the state must install this system to save water, he appealed.
