Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Tuesday said that yoga has become an integral part of our daily lives, as it helps to shape our bodies in the right posture and promotes overall well-being.
Sporting a yellow turban and a yoga T-shirt, CM Mann was addressing a gathering of 15,000 people who had come to participate in the two-hour-long yoga session ‘CM di Yog Shala’ at the PAP Grounds in Jalandhar, on the eve of International Yoga Day on June 21.
Before the start of the session, the Chief Minister emphasised the significance of yoga in the lives of people. CM Mann remarked that everyone is leading busy lives and facing issues such as stress, depression, and various lifestyle diseases. He, therefore, urged everyone to cherish each day and every breath, as every breath and every day represents new experiences that have never been encountered before.
He said that happiness and good health enable individuals to perform better in their respective professions and remove negativity. CM Mann highlighted the importance of an active lifestyle and assured the audience that the government is committed to providing free yoga instructors. “If there are groups of 25 people interested in practising yoga in their localities, the government will support them,” he asserted.
‘CM di Yoga Shala’ is an initiative of the Punjab government to provide yoga education free of cost to its people.
Several Members of Parliament, including Sushil Rinku, and Raghav Chadha as well as cabinet ministers joined him in the two-hour Yoga session from 6 am to 8 am.
Taking a dig at the previous Chief Minister without mentioning any names, Mann asked the gathering if they had ever witnessed their former head of the state engaging in yoga with the public. “They were accustomed to going to bed at 3 am and waking up at 2 pm, and after their meals, they would declare, ‘Now, it’s dinner time. Let’s have dinner!’” he ridiculed.
