Punjab announces relief for kin of cops

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced an immediate relief of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of Head Constable Narinder Singh and Constable Surinder Singh who died in the encounter near Pathankot on Sunday.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced an immediate relief of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of Head Constable Narinder Singh and Constable Surinder Singh who died in the encounter near Pathankot on Sunday. In a statement,Badal described the two as “martyrs to the cause of defense,unity and integrity of the country”. Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said Badal also announced that one dependent member each of the two families would be given government job on the basis of their eligibility. The CM also announced that the families would continue to get the full salary drawn by the policemen till the scheduled date of their retirement. In addition,the families will be entitled to their post-retirement benefits.
