The Himachal Pradesh State Drug Control Administration has raided a pharmaceutical unit at Industrial Area in Baddi, which has allegedly been illegally manufacturing medicines despite being ordered to stop the production in March, after the Rajasthan government complained about sub-standard medicine being supplied there, an official said on Monday.
State Drug Controller Dr Manish Kapoor said, “The pharmaceutical unit, YL Pharma, at Katha-Baddi, was raided on Saturday, following a communication from the Rajasthan government that samples of certain medicines, including levocetirizine tablets, were found to be sub-standard. YL Pharma manufactured the drug in June and July despite the unit being ordered to stop production in March 2025 after some adverse reports.”
“We collected the evidence about the communication from the Rajasthan government. We are taking action against the pharmaceutical company management as per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act & Rules. A reply will also be shared with the Rajasthan government. It was a routine exercise,” the officer said.
Sources said the firm, already placed on the regulator’s surveillance list, was ordered to “Stop Manufacturing” under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act & Rules on March 29. In April 2025, a joint team of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) and the State Drug Control Administration inspected the unit and found it non-operational at that time.
