Two persons died in separate road accidents in the city on Friday. The deceased are Dalip Chand (60) and Naveen Chand (22).
According to the police,Dalip,a resident of Moga,was crossing the road dividing Sectors 34 and 35 when a motorcycle (CH 03 Z 8546) coming from Sector 34 hit him. He was taken to hospital where he died. The motorcycle rider,Subhash,from Panchkula,was arrested on charges of rash driving and causing death due to negligence.
In another incident,Naveen died after the cycle he was riding was hit by a truck near Hallomajra traffic light point on Friday. Chand sustained multiple head injuries and was taken to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The truck driver,Arfan Ahmad,has been arrested.
The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families after postmortem on Saturday.
