It is highly imperative that the government starts around 1,500 stalled road and highway projects,speed up reforms,fast-track clearances and award projects under PPP mode to revive and revolutionise the ailing construction sector, said Jasmeet Singh,Head,Customer Experience Programs & Defence Sales,JCB India Ltd while addressing a roadshow on EXCON 2013 on Saturday.
EXCON-2013 is to be held from November 20-24 at Bangalore and is Asias third largest trade fair for construction and equipment industry. The roadshow is being organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Jasmeet Singh said out of the stalled projects,around 350-400 are in the northern region and if these projects are started,the regions economy will get an immense boost and the construction sector,which has witnessed a negative growth for the last six months,will turn around.
We are hoping for EXCON 2013 to revitalise the construction industry as it is expected that more than 100 new products and equipment would be launched,in addition to a lot of attractive offers,partnerships and schemes, he added.
From Chandigarh region,a large number of dealers,project developers,banking and finance companies,machinery and equipment dealers,buyers,suppliers and investors in construction equipment,equipment rental companies are expected to participate and explore options for Joint Ventures (JVs),and deals with international clients,Singh said.
