Pracheen Kala Kendra’s 154th baithak programme featured Bangalore-based vocalist Koushik Aithal,who performed on Sunday evening at the Bhaskar Rao Indoor Auditorium. Known for nuanced knowledge of the Kirana,Patiala and Gwalior gharanas,Aithal has imbibed the mannerisms of his mentor Pandit Parmeshwar Hegde. Aihal started with a khayal in Raga Yaman. The opening composition Tero gun gao,set to slow tempo in Ek tala was developed with soothingly inserted alap badhat besides scores of well-knit sargams and boldly executed taan flourishes. He chose Raga Megh as his next rendering and doled out Jhap tala based composition Garaje ghata ghana. He ended with a Meera bhajan Mahare ghar aayo. Mehmood Khan was on tabla and Neeraj Gandhi provided support on the harmonium.
