In a major development in the 2022 terror attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali, a special court has taken strict action against six accused after they were not produced before the court by jail authorities.
The court has issued production warrants against Divyanshu, Gurpinder Singh, alias Pinda, Nishan Singh, Chadat Singh, Vikas Kumar, and Baljinder Singh, alias Rambo, directing jail officials to produce them on November 15, 2025. The order was passed by the Additional Sessions Judge, Mohali, who also adjourned the hearing until November 15.
During the proceedings, the Additional Public Prosecutor represented the state, while the counsel for various accused were also present. Accused Anantdeep Singh, Baljeet Kaur, and Lovepreet Singh who are out on bail attended the hearing through their lawyers.
However, despite being in custody, Nishan Singh, Gurpinder Singh, alias Pinda, Chadat Singh, Vikas Kumar, Baljinder Singh, alias Rambo, and Divyanshu were not produced in court by the jail authorities.
The court also exempted the personal appearance of Jagdeep Singh, alias Jaggi, Kanwarjeet Singh, and Lovepreet Singh, while directing the investigating officer to appear on November 15 to present a detailed progress report.
The proceedings were adjourned in line with the August 19, 2025 order, under which copies of case documents are to be provided to the defence. The step comes amid repeated delays caused by police failure to produce the accused on time.
The case relates to the rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on May 9, 2022, targeting the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Sector 77, Mohali. Although there were no casualties, the attack was seen as a major terror incident in Punjab.
Subsequent investigations revealed the involvement of Khalistani terror outfits, including Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), in coordination with gangster networks. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe on September 20, 2022.
Investigators identified Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, Lakhbir Singh, and Deepak currently hiding in Pakistan as key conspirators. Police are now seeking to declare them proclaimed offenders, with an application already filed before the Mohali court.
Two years ago, the police confiscated four kanals of land belonging to Lakhbir Singh alias Landa in Kidian village, Tarn Taran. Landa, now residing in Canada, has been declared a terrorist, with a Rs 15 lakh reward announced for his capture.
According to NIA sources, the attack exposed a transnational terror network operating from foreign soil, involved in arms trafficking, drug smuggling, and targeted killings, pointing to a well-coordinated nexus between gangsters and Khalistani extremists.
