Police on Wednesday questioned the wife of Doon MLA from Himachal Pradesh,Ram Kumar Chaudhary,to investigate her role in influencing the family of the deceased Hoshiarpur girl to withdraw the case of rape and murder filed against her husband.

According to sources,MLA’s wife Nidhi had denied the allegations that she had called up the deceased’s uncle. Police said that conversation records ascertained that she was reportedly trying to bribe the family of the deceased to get her husband exonerated in the case.

Sources also said that Nidhi not only questioned the authenticity of the voice records that were earlier submitted by the police to the court, but she also pointed out that the other person with whom she had been found talking to was not Surjeet, deceased’s maternal uncle,as was being claimed by the police.

Counsels for Surjeet and Nidhi, and Ram Kumar Chaudhary’s brother Harbhajan Chaudhary on Wednesday told a local court that they would file a written reply in the matter,in which police had sought to record the voice of the wife of the MLA to prove that the CD that had been submitted in court was of the conversation between Nidhi and Surjeet.
