Gurvinder, a resident of Dhakoli village in Zirakpur, said that on Wednesday night, he and his mother were returning home after closing their shop around 10:30 pm, located a short distance from their house. At that time, 15–20 migrants living nearby were engaged in a fight. When Gurvinder tried to stop them from creating a scene near his house, the group attacked him, leaving him with serious head injuries.

Following the incident, two of the accused were apprehended while the others fled.

Gurvinder and his brother-in-law were admitted to Dhakoli Hospital. They claimed that when they went to the nearby Dhakoli police station around midnight to report the incident, the station was locked from the inside. After ringing the bell at the gate, only two people were allowed in, and no one was present in the PCR vehicle parked outside.

The family alleged that no police personnel were available until 9 am on Thursday, calling the police response ineffective. Gurvinder added that the police asked him to hand over the two attackers he had detained. The matter is under investigation, though Dhakoli police has declined to comment on the case.
