Continuing the drive to stop illegal slaughtering, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) raided two shops in Model town area on Wednesday and destroyed one quintal of unhygienic waste which was stored in the shops.
The civic body team led by Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh conducted raids at Rozy chicken and Ravi A-one chicken and caught the staff involved in illegal slaughtering.
The teams conducted inspections and seized around 1 quintal of illegally slaughtered unhygienic meat from the shops.
Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh said that the staff at one of the shops was engaged in illegal slaughtering when the MC teams conducted the raids on Wednesday. The unhygienic meat confiscated from the shops was destroyed on the spot.
Singh stated that working on the directions of MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal, regular drives are being carried out against illegal slaughtering.
He added that the shopkeepers across the city have been directed to get the meat slaughtered at the modern slaughter house established by the MC in Haibowal dairy complex (Hambran road). The meat is properly checked by veterinary doctors and certified at the slaughterhouse, which ensures that it is healthy for consumption.
MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal also appealed to the residents to ask for certified meat from the shopkeepers/meat sellers, as this will not only put a stop on illegal slaughtering, but will also ensure that the residents consume healthy meat which is certified at the slaughterhouse facility. Regular awareness and enforcement drives are being conducted in the city to stop illegal slaughtering.
