Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar on Friday flagged off 26 vans that will tour all 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state and seek the inputs of voters for the party’s poll manifesto. The campaign has been named ‘Sankalp Patra Sujhav Abhiyaan: Viksit Bharat – Modi ki Guarantee’.

At the flagging-off event, Jakhar told media persons in Chandigarh, “You can call it the aagaaz (beginning) of the Lok Sabha polls campaign… Our slogan is ‘Hum vayede nahi, haqiqat bunte hain (We weave realities, not promises)’.”

He further said, “Unlike the AAP which made lots of promises but failed to fulfill them… money did come from the excise department, sand mining department, and so on, but that went to Kejriwalji (Arvind Kejriwal) instead of being spent on developmental works in Punjab… We don’t give farzi (fake) guarantee but the actual guarantee which we can fulfill… and the actual guarantee is also called ‘Modi ki Guarantee’.”

Jakhar informed that the suggestions received from the electorate will be compiled and sent to the party’s central election committee in New Delhi after 10 days.

Asked if there was any possibility of an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Jakhar said, “We are ready to contest all 13 seats but the masses want the alliance to happen…”

Responding to another question, the state BJP chief said that regional parties like the SAD play a crucial role in raising the demands of the local populace.

Jakhar also said the Congress was playing a ‘friendly match’ with the AAP in Punjab.
