Apprehending a threat to his family’s life,Amarjit Singh, father of 32-year-old Amarpreet Singh who was murdered by youths on a parking issue in Mohali last month, has written a letter to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Treating the letter as public interest litigation,a division bench headed by Chief Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri has sought response from the Punjab Police.

Alleging that the Mohali police is deliberately not arresting five of the total nine accused, the father,a resident of Mohali, has alleged in his letter that the police are “hand in glove” with the youths who murdered his son on a “petty issue” of parking his vehicle.

A hapless father, who now apprehends threat to his family, has submitted that some of the murderers have been seen “loitering” in Mohali. For reasons best known to the police, the father has alleged, all the accused have not been arrested.

“On the petty issue of car parking, they murdered my son. Of the accused, five are at large as they are hand in glove with the police authorities. They are generally seen loitering in various sectors of Mohali and police are not arresting them. We also apprehend danger to our lives at the hands of the absconding accused,” reads the one- page letter written by the father.

He has requested the court to issue directions for the arrest of all the accused and for bringing them to book.

It was on February 27 that advocate Amarpreet Singh was murdered in front of his house in Mohali. He was shot at three times. A murder case was registered against nine people: Sunbir Singh,Onkar Singh,Jaswinder Singh Mangly,Deepak Kaushal,Sunil Bhanout,Kevian Sushant,Dharminder Singh,Rajat Sharma and Vishal Sharwat who were living as paying guests in a nearby house.
