The Khanna police Wednesday busted a gang allegedly involved in manufacturing fake currency notes with the arrest of four of its members. The police also recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 1,19,500. The police have also seized a swift dzire car in which the accused were travelling.
According to the police, the recovered counterfeit currency notes included 227 notes of Rs 500 denomination and 300 notes of Rs 20 denomination.
The arrested accused have been identified as Nirpal Singh alias Happy of Ghughrali Rajputan of Khanna, Naresh Kumar alias Raj of Karnal of Haryana, Kuldeep of Panipat of Haryana and Ravi of Panipat of Haryana.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna, Amneet Kondal said that a team led by SP (I) Dr Pragya Jain arrested the accused near the military ground on the basis of a tip-off. The accused were carrying fake currency notes in a swift Dzire car and when frisked, the team recovered counterfeit Indian currency notes worth Rs 1,19,500.
A case under sections 489A, 489B and 489C of IPC has been registered against the accused at City2 Khanna police station and further investigation has been initiated.
SSP added that the accused used to bring fake Indian currency notes from Uttar Pradesh and used to further supply them. They also used to spend these fake Indian Currency Notes in the public.
SSP added that all the accused came in touch through Facebook and even they came in contact with a UP-based man through social media and started transporting fake currency notes from UP.
Except for Ravi, all other accused have a criminal background and have come out on bail from jail.
