Flight carrier IndiGo on Sunday started operations between Delhi and Dharamshala. Dharamshala will be IndiGo’s 78th domestic and 104th overall flight destination. The flight connectivity will help airlines tap into the tourism season as summers approach.
As per the schedule, there will be daily flights from Delhi to Dharamshala at 6.40 am, and the return flight will be at 8.45 am. Another flight will operate on Delhi-Dharamshala-Delhi route on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 11 am and 2.55 pm. A one-way trip is available for around Rs 4700.
While the daily flights started on Sunday, the rest will begin from Monday. “We are extremely pleased to announce the launch of our operations from Dharamshala, making our way into the serene valleys of Himachal Pradesh.
Direct connectivity to Dharamshala will provide a gateway for tourists to explore the local markets, temples and monasteries, museums, and churches and unwind in the picturesque waterfalls and mountains of Himachal. This move aims to bolster passenger traffic even further as we have witnessed a strong demand for connectivity to the state,” Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo.
Malhotra added that direct flights from Delhi, will also connect Himachal Pradesh to the rest of the country and international destinations in Asia, Middle East, and Europe. ”
The launch of direct flights to Dharamshala will enhance accessibility to nearby tourist attractions and provide more options to consumers besides road and bus travel.
