Indian Railways to start package tours to Goa

From September onwards, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will be starting a three nights and four days tour package to Goa, which was in the pipeline since December last. The cost of the trip is yet to be decided.

IRCTC will be adding an extra coach to the Kochuveli Express train which departs from Chandigarh at 8:55 am. This extra coach will accommodate as many as 70 people. As per the officials, the train with an additional coach will depart from Chandigarh on September 24 and will return on September 29.

IRCTC has another tour package on the list these days, a three nights and four days package to Port Blair from Chandigarh at Rs 6,850. The tour package includes accomodation at a 2-star resort, breakfast and dinner and sight seeing.

The air fare for the same is around Rs 25,000, while going by train is another option, where one could go from Chandigarh to Chennai by train and from Chennai, take a steamer ship to Port Blair, which will further cost Rs 1,800-5,000 per head. While, IRCTC is yet to launch an education tour package for the city schools, which was planned for January, 2014.

The package was to include activities like camp fire, mountaineering and adventure courses like sand dune camping, riverside forest camping, para gliding, rappelling, tent pitching, night drills and jungle hiking.
