India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan-based terror camps has united all political parties in Punjab, with leaders from different parties praising the military action and commending the defence forces. “Ghar mein ghuskar maarta hai (India strikes inside the enemy’s home)”, an expression that once electrified political discourse, was once again brought to the fore by BJP leaders.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wrote on X that the entire country is united in this fight against terrorism, “We are proud of our Indian Army and our brave soldiers. 140 crore countrymen are standing with the Indian Army. The people of Punjab stand with the country’s army for the courage and enthusiasm of the soldiers.”

Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok), past Wednesday midnight, was executed two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed.

Aam Aadmi Party’s state president Aman Arora reposted AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s post on X. Kejriwal stated, “We are proud of the Indian Army and our brave soldiers. 140 crore Indians are standing with the Indian Army in this fight against terrorism. The courage of the Indian Army is the belief of every countryman. We are all together – united against terrorism. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”

Congress’s Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, while mentioning a couplet of Guru Gobind Singh, “Deh Shiva Barr Mohe Ehe“, said, “Our soldiers serve the nation in this spirit, and we are proud of them.”

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring wrote on X, “You can’t mess with our country and get away with it. The message is loud and clear. Our defence forces will chase you to hell and settle you there. This fight will be to the finish. Jai Hind. Jai Hind ki Sena.”

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “Shiomani Akali Dal salutes our brave Armed Forces for executing #OperationSindoor with precision & restraint. We stand with the Govt of India for its decisive action against terrorism. Jai Hind!”

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha referred to the media briefing led by two women officers, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, in Delhi following Operation Sindoor. He said, “Col Sofiya Qureshi & Wg Cdr Vyomika Singh, two brave daughters of India, standing tall, briefing the nation on #OperationSindoor. A message loud and clear, India will crush terrorists and those who shelter them. This is Nari Shakti. This is Rashtra Shakti.”

BJP Punjab chief Sunil Kumar Jakhar saluted the Indian Army on X in a post written in Hindi.

Union minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu said, “Bhartiya Sena ki veerta ko shat shat naman! Operation Sindoor ke tahat aatank ke adddon par karara prahar kar aapne poore desh ka sir garv se ooncha kar diya. Ye naya Bharat hai — ghar mein ghuskar maarta hai! Jai Hind, Vande Mataram! (Salutations to the bravery of the Indian Army! Under Operation Sindoor, you have delivered a powerful blow to terror hideouts and made the entire nation proud. This is the new India — it strikes the enemy inside their own territory! Jai Hind! Vande Mataram!)”

BJP’s national general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa echoed a similar sentiment and said, “Ek baar nahin, baar baar maarenge… Ghar mein ghuskar maarenge (Not just once, we will strike again and again… We will enter their home and strike).”

Senior BJP leader Sukhminderpal Grewal said the strikes not only avenged the deaths of 26 civilians in the Pahalgam terror attack but also redefined India’s rules of engagement with rogue regimes that sponsor terrorism. India strikes by entering the enemy’s territory, Grewal said.

Heera Sodhi, BJP leader from Ferozepur and son of former Congress MLA Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, said, “The repeated use of ‘Ghar mein ghus ke maarta hai’ reflects a resolute and self-assured India, ready to protect its sovereignty with decisive action.”

The phrase ‘Ghar mein ghus ke maarta hai’ gained prominence after the 2019 Balakot airstrikes in response to the Pulwama attack and became a central theme in Prime Minister Modi’s 2019 election campaign. It resurfaced again during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal targeted former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, who was recently in controversy for remarks related to the Pahalgam attack. He said, “Those who used to hang lemons and chillies on aircraft models, who demanded proof of the last airstrike, who kept asking ‘when will we take revenge?’ What will they say now?”
