Sushil Kumar,a UT home guard, posted at Mauli Jagran,Chandigarh, was allegedly assaulted by the residents of Rajiv Colony,Sector 16,after a woman claimed that Kumar forcefully entered her house when she was alone and misbehaved with her.
While the Panchkula police said a compromise had been reached between the two parties, the neighbours said they rushed to Rama Devis help on hearing her shouts.
Around 10.30 in the morning,we heard screams from Rama Devis house. When we reached her hut,she claimed that the UT home guard had entered her house forcefully claming that he had come to investigate a case registered by her. On seeing her alone in the house,Kumar allegedly tried to misbehave with her. Within minutes, the entire colony gathered along with Rama Devis husband Lala and the home guard was beaten up by the residents, said Amar Singh,a resident of the colony.
The UT home guard was later taken to the Panchkula Sector-16 police station.
Rama Devi, along with her husband Lala, had reportedly lodged a complaint in the Mauli Jagran police post on Monday against her brother-in-law. UT home guard Sushil Kumar had reportedly visited their house in Rajiv Colony today on the pretext of investigating the case.
While the family of the victim refused to comment on the issue, the Panchkula police, taking a different stand, said it was in fact the womans husband Lala who had misbehaved with the UT home guard.
Talking to Newsline,Station House Officer of Sector 16,Inspector Aman Kumar said,The UT home guard had some heated argument with Lala when the couple had gone to file a complaint in the Mauli Jagran police post. Today, the home guard was in the photostat shop next to the couples house when Lala noticed him. With an aim to avenge yesterdays insult,he started beating him.
The SHO added that when the lady realised that her husband could get into trouble, she allegedly told the police that the home guard had misbehaved with her. No police case has been registered as both the parties have reached a compromise,Kumar said.
