Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh Friday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Delhi and took up various development issues pertaining to the state.
Vikramaditya Singh urged Nitin Gadkari for the construction of an alternate road from Ghatasni, Shilha-Badhani-Bhubujot-Kullu with a tunnel at Bhubujot, which would reduce a distance of 40 km on National Highway 144. Singh said this is very important from the tourism point of view besides its strategic importance, and would facilitate tourists visiting the hill state’s Kullu district.
He also urged Gadkari to provide approval for the construction of a Rs 125.57 crore double-lane bridge over the River Beas between Basantipattan and Kheri connecting Kangra and Hamirpur districts on priority under the Bharat Setu Yojna. Singh said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also raised this issue with the Union Minister during his previous meeting.
He also requested the construction of a Rs 19.09 crore 110-metre span single-lane steel truss motorable bridge over the Beas Pandoh on the Pandoh-Shiva Road in the Mandi district.
On his part, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured Singh of all possible support to the state.
Singh thanked Gadkari for sanctioning Rs 350 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), which he said will go a long way in improving road connectivity and enhancing the state’s growth. He also thanked for the support extended by the Union minister for providing exemption to ropeway projects from forest clearances by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC).
Recently, CM Sukhu urged Nitin Gadkari to provide an exemption to the state government from forest clearances by MOEFCC for the ropeway projects in the state. The state government’s request was accepted last month.
