Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday inaugurated a host of projects worth Rs 188.8 crore for Karsog region and announced other infrastructure-related upgrades.
He inaugurated the Combined Office Building constructed at a cost of Rs. 34.25 crore, Subject Matter Specialist Horticulture Office Building constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.67 crore, Panchayat Community Centre Triman (Rs 29.51 lakh), beautification work of Mahunag Temple Complex (Rs 90.11 lakh), works of Maindhi gram panchayat (71.57 lakh), Health Sub Center Bhanthal (Rs 13 lakh), gram panchayat community centre in Sui Kufridhar (Rs 32.74 lakh), and Apna Pustakalay (library) (Rs 13.75 lakh), among others.
Sukhu also announced the construction of a milk processing plant and a 66 kV substation. He said that GSSS Karsog would be upgraded to a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School and affiliated with CBSE from the next financial year.
Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister announced the conversion of Tibban and Pangna schools into CBSE institutions, the opening of Patwar Circles at Sanarli, Mated, and Baneda, and the improvement of the Tattapani–Bakhrout road. He said adequate funds would be provided to complete the ITI building, where AI and machine learning courses would soon be introduced. A radiologist will also be appointed at Karsog Hospital soon.
The Chief Minister said that Karsog, like many parts of the state, had suffered heavy losses during the recent monsoon disaster, and the government was conducting a study to identify the causes of cloudbursts. A financial assistance of Rs 7 lakh each was sanctioned for 94 fully damaged houses.
Accusing BJP leaders of obstructing additional borrowing permissions from the Centre, the Chief Minister said the Union government had withheld Rs 1,600 crore after the State reinstated the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). He also rejected the BJP’s allegations regarding non-payment under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana, clarifying that payments were being released in phases.
Highlighting education and health reforms, he said 6,000 teachers were being recruited to strengthen education, while 200 doctors had been appointed with plans to hire 200 more. He emphasised that the government was committed to transparent governance and public welfare-oriented spending.
