He had come to offer condolences at the death of Jaidev Rana. At about 9:15 pm,he was going to meet his sister at Sarkapur village on his motorcycle.

An Alto started following him. Near Tangri river,he was surrounded by the occupants of the car and fired at.

He was hit by two bullets in the chest. After this,the attackers fled. People immediately informed the police and he was shifted to the General Hospital in Sector 6,Panchkula.

A team of doctors was ready at the hospital as the police had informed them in advance. After giving him preliminary treatment,he was referred to PGI,Chandigarh.

Panchkula SP Maneesh Chaudhry too reached the hospital. Sources informed that Prakash had told the police about four of the five occupants of the Alto.

Out of them three,Randeep,Soni and Ashok all belonged to Faral village and the fourth alleged assailant,Ratan Maan,is from Karnal. It is suspected that there is an old rivalry between Prakash and the attackers.

Chaudhry said that according to the information provided by Prakash,the attackers would be arrested soon. He added that Prakash was still not out of danger and was being transferred to PGI.

Two days ago,he was in Chandigarh to address a conference of farmers of Punjab and Haryana. He had strongly raised the issue of land acquisition in Haryana and the Hansi-Bhutana canal issue.

He was also at the forefront of agitation and was leading Rajputs against Dalits in Batour village over ownership of Shamlat land few months ago.
