“The arrested are connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. All four have old criminal record. Based on reliable information that four youths with illegal weapons and bulletproof jackets were roaming in a car in the Chandwas village area to commit a major crime, a police team raided the location and arrested them,” a police spokesperson said.
“One countrymade pistol, four cartridges, one mobile phone and one dongle were recovered from the accused Ankit, while four cartridges each were recovered from Ajay, Ashuraj, and Ravindra. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of four bulletproof jackets and four bulletproof helmets,” the spokesperson added.
Talking about their association with each other, the spokesperson said, “During the primary probe, accused Ankit said that in 2020, he met one Akshay in jail. Akshay is the nephew of gangster Naresh Sethi. Akshay and Sethi are associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. About a year ago, Akshay went abroad and used to communicate with Ankit through an online app.
“A few days ago, Akshay provided (Ankit with) two countrymade pistols, 30 cartridges in Delhi to loot hawala money, which was unsuccessful. After that, Akshay had to get some big work done, for which four bulletproof jackets and four bulletproof helmets were made available. The police caught them before they could commit a major crime. One of his accomplices, Monu alias Binda, a resident of Dhabdhani in the Bhiwani district, was arrested on May 15 under Arms Act. From his possession, one illegal countrymade pistol and six cartridges were recovered. A case was registered against them and a further probe into the case is underway,” the spokesperson added.
