A delegation from the Philippines met Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Thursday to talk about eco-friendly technologies and climate solutions to support sustainable growth and Net Zero goals.
During the meeting, Vij said the state has installed over 2.1 GW (gigawatt) of solar power and is quickly expanding rooftop solar systems across houses, industries, and institutions. Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, more than 1.65 lakh solar irrigation pumps have been given to farmers, helping lower costs and reduce emissions. The key projects include a 10 MW solar plant in Panipat, over 448 MW of ground-mounted solar installations, 13 approved solar parks, and Panchkula being declared a Model Solar City.
As of July 2025, Haryana’s total renewable energy capacity — installed and contracted — stands at 6,264 MW, making up 38.6% of the state’s total power generation, with solar contributing nearly 2,200 MW. The state has also added rooftop solar to government schools and hospitals, introduced net metering, and supported stubble-to-biomass energy projects. These efforts have earned Haryana several national awards from the Ministry of Power for energy efficiency and conservation.
