Gurpurab celebration: F&CC approves setting up temporary stalls for three days

This decision was taken during the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting held on Friday under the chairpersonship of Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla.

The Finance & Contract Committee of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) has approved permission to set up temporary stalls for three days during the upcoming Gurpurab Celebration to facilitate the smooth conduct of religious festivities and provide necessary amenities to devotees and visitors, while ensuring proper regulation and cleanliness in the area.

This decision was taken during the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting held on Friday under the chairpersonship of Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla.

The Committee also discussed and accorded approval to the procurement of one new Sawraj Mazda (water tanker) in place of the old condemned water tanker to provide water supply service in the area of Maninmajra, including Kishangarh village, at an estimated cost of Rs 23.63 lakh.

The Committee also approved providing and laying of 450mm (18”) i/d RCC NP-2 SWD line, along with construction of machine hole & road gully chambers, for proper disposal of rainwater at various locations in Sector 48, Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs 27.97 lakh, strengthening of the existing SWD line for smooth disposal of rainwater at H. No. 223, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238 & 239 of Judges’ House in Sector 16 at an estimated cost of Rs 38.15 lakh.

It also approved a rough cost estimate for the installation of CCTV cameras in IDLE truck parking at Sector 26, Chandigarh, at an estimated cost of Rs 17.44 lakh.

The F&CC approved the organisation of the Chhath Puja celebration at the pond, Green Belt Part I, Indira Colony, Manimajra, Chandigarh. Earlier, the General House of the MCC had passed an agenda for organising Chhath Puja at Sundar Nagar, Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh. Accordingly, the MCC will conduct the Chhath Puja celebration at two locations this year to facilitate devotees in different parts of the city.
