Two men robbed a businessman’s black colour Hector, in which his 22-year-old maid was seated, from Sector 20, Panchkula, around 2 pm on Tuesday.
The car was tracked down through its GPS system connected to the owner’s phone and found abandoned near Kaithal Tuesday night. Robbers dropped the maid, Nargis Baa, unharmed near Ambala, who said she could identify the robbers.
The Hector belongs to Mathew Jon, 50, who lives in Air Force Enclave, Dhakoli, Zirakpur. He deals in pharmaceuticals. Police have lodged an FIR against two unknown men on his complaint.
Sources said, “Mathew Jon along with his maid Nargis Baa had come to Axis Bank in Sector 20, to deposit cash around 1.35 pm. As he took the keys out of his pocket after stepping out from the bank, two unknown men snatched the keys and pushed him, a scuffle ensued between them. The maid tried to get out of the car but the robbers got in and drove away. John called the police control room and told the police about the GPS system.”
Inspector Arun Bishnoi, SHO PS 20, Panchkula, said, “Following the incident, an alert was already sounded throughout the state. Ambala and Kaithal police were put on alert based on the GPS leads. The stolen car was found abandoned just two hundred meters before a police naka between Ambala and Kaithal. The car was brought back to Panchkula.”
