Four injured as robbers strike in Panchkula,loot Rs 45,000

They were attacked with thick wooden sticks and received injuries on their heads and had to be hospitalised,they added.

Four people were injured when unidentified robbers struck at their shanties in Kalka and Pinjore late Sunday. According to police,the four — Zahir Khan his wife Reshma,Rakesh and Sonu — were attacked by a gang late on Sunday night,who then looted the cash and other valuables. All the four are residents of UP and live in Seuri and Dharampur areas of Kalka and Pinjore,police said. They were attacked with thick wooden sticks and received injuries on their heads and had to be hospitalised,they added. The injured have been shifted to the Sector-6 government hospital in Panchkula and Sector-32 government hospital at Chandigarh.

The incident occurred at around 11:45 pm on Sunday when the unidentified robbers carried out two separate attacks. From Dharampur,they allegedly looted Rs 10,000 and some silver jewellery and from Seuri,they allegedly looted Rs 35,000 and some gold jewellery,police said.

Following the incident,senior police officials including Deputy Commissioner of Police,Ashwin Shenvi,rushed to the spot. The investigation is on and police have registered separate cases at the Pinjore and Kalka police stations. Station house officer (SHO),Pinjore,Raj Kumar,said that the group of attackers couldn’t be identified as of now. “ This is a very strange case for us as the people who were robbed are poor and have been mostly working as labourers in the Kalka and Pinjore areas,” he added.
