Don’t give credit to Tewari for works I initiated: Former MP Kher to Chandigarh

Former Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher has written to the Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, objecting to the installation of plaques crediting her successor, Manish Tewari, for works she claims to have recommended under the MPLADS scheme during her tenure from 2019 to 2024.

In her letter, Kher stated that several projects she had recommended under the scheme were completed only after the end of her tenure. However, she pointed out that plaques for these works now bear Tewari’s name instead of hers.
Citing MPLADS guidelines, she stressed that the name of the Member of Parliament who recommended a project must be displayed, irrespective of when it was completed.

The former MP has urged the administration to rectify the error and replace all incorrectly inscribed plaques with corrected ones carrying her name.

“The plaques for works recommended during my tenure should correctly mention my name,” she asserted in the letter.
Kher also raised another grievance regarding water tankers procured under MPLADS during her term. She said that her name, which was displayed on the tankers, had been removed during the Model Code of Conduct for the 2024 elections but has not been restored since.

She requested the Chief Secretary to issue necessary directions to ensure her name is reinstated on the tankers.

Seeking the Administration’s intervention, Kher said that due credit should be given to the Member of Parliament who recommended the works.
