VJ Andy has his eyes set on Bollywood
So it does not come as a surprise that the VJ enjoys being part of V Style Chunky, where he gives fashion tips with model Pankhuri. The ten-minute show helps me explore the fashion designer in me. On it,I talk about the classics of fashion denims and the little black dress, says Andy, who started his career as a choreographer in England and was also into theatre. As a theatre artiste,I did a play in England called Britains Got Bhangra. It explored the history of Punjabs traditional dance and how it was gaining popularity in Britain, says Andy, who was born and brought up in England.
Veejaying was not on his mind even when he moved to Mumbai in 2003. It was few years later when he was choreographing Get Gorgeous 5 that the creative head of the channel asked him to join as a co-host. From there on offers just came rolling in. I did a lot of shows, but particularly enjoyed Dare 2 Date. I had no rules to follow and no guidelines to abide. Besides,it is always fun to facilitate two people bond, says Andy, who traces his roots to Punjab. My mother belongs to Ludhiana and father is from Jalandhar. They often appraise me about the customs here, says he,adding that he particularly likes the people here. Though they look arrogant, they have a heart of gold. I always look forward to working with them, says he. Chandigarh too holds a special place in his heart. I am a Punjabi by nature and love the blend of tradition and modernity that the city offers, notes the VJ who is now looking at Bollywood scripts with meaty roles that have something substantial to say in a fun manner.
