A section of farmer and khap leaders from Haryana and Punjab Sunday extended support to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik over his statement on Pulwama attack and urged him to “carry on”.

Senior farmer leader from Punjab Balbir Singh Rajewal — who had formed a political outfit Sanyukt Samaj Morcha to contest 2022 assembly polls of the state— in a tweet said: “Satyapal Malik bravely exposed Pulwama. Farmers are his shield. He must carry on. All farmer organizations are with him”.

Rajewal is also the founder and president of Bharatiya Kisan Union.

Sanyukt Samaj Morcha spokesperson Arashdeep Singh said that Satyapal Malik “showed immense courage in exposing the truth behind the Pulwama attack”. He too said that “farmers have been his shield and support” and that he must “continue his efforts”.

A farmer leader from Haryana’s Jind, Azad Singh Palwa, too extended support to Malik. In Kandela village of Jind district, Sarvjatiy Kandela khap held a meeting under the chairmanship of Om Prakash Kandela to express solidarity with Malik. After the meeting, khap spokesperson Jagat Singh Redhu demanded a probe by a Supreme Court judge into the issues raised by the former Governor, claiming Malik “can’t level allegations without facts”.

Kandela is the same village where the farmers had blocked Jind-Chandigarh national highway when the authorities tried to remove protester farmers from Ghazipur border who were sitting there under the leadership of Rakesh Tikait in January 2021.
