The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recovered Rs 5 crore crash, foreign-made arms and as many as 300 cartridges while carrying out raids at locations linked to former Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) legislator Dilbag Singh in connection with an illegal mining case.
The search operation at Singh’s residence continued for the second consecutive day on Friday morning. On Thursday, searches were also conducted at the residence of Haryana Congress MLA Surender Panwar.
Both Panwar, an MLA from Sonipat, and Singh, a former MLA from Yamunanagar, are in the mining business. Around 20 locations linked to the two politicians and their close aides were raided in Yamunanagar, Sonipat, Mohali, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Karnal, sources said.
The raids follow multiple FIRs registered by the Haryana Police in the past regarding illegal mining in Yamunanagar, Sonipat and nearby districts.
