The Chief Information Commissioner for the city in a hearing held on Tuesday dismissed a case filed by a Sector-44 resident, who had alleged that he received incomplete information from the UT Administration against an RTI query.

Amardeep Singh had filed an application under Right to Information Act asking for information pertaining to the clarifications regarding notification order dated October 16,2008 and zoning plan for marla houses. The applicant asked the reasons for not allowing three feet cantilevers on rear side beyond 65 per cent building line. He also asked about the observations or reservations raised against such cantilevers by concerned officers in the meeting and whether staircase mumty with three feet high parapet on terrace will be allowed on marla houses.

In a reply,Amardeep was given the drawing relating to staircase mumty only in case of commercial site and not related to staricase mumty in case of marla houses. It was found that the information was incomplete and the desired documents and minutes of the meeting were missing.

After not getting desired response from the appellant authority, his appeal was filed with the Central Information Commission. Amardeep says,“the purpose of RTI is defeated if the requisite information is not provided, the applicants should atleast be given a proper hearing”.
