The Congress party in-charge of state political affairs,Gulchain Singh Charak,on Wednesday visited the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) Dera in Noormahal. Party sources said Charak met Dera head Ashutosh for about 15 minutes in a closed door meeting.
The Congress incharge was accompanied by other party leaders including Congress candidate from Nakodar and sitting MLA Amarjit Singh Samra,Gurbinder Singh Atwal,who withdrew his nomination as an Independent from Nakodar on Monday,and Varinder Sharma. The leaders,however,were kept out of the meeting between the Dera head and Charak.
Sources said Charak flew to Noormahal by a chopper and seemed visibly pleased after the meeting. The Dera head has assured his support to the Congress in the coming polls,sources added. The Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan Dera has a sizeable number of followers,across the state particularly in Jalandhar and Ludhiana districts.
