Chandigarh: Stray dog dies after touching electric fence; cop booked

The accused has been identified as Randhir Singh.

A sub-inspector (SI) of the Haryana Police has been booked after a stray dog got electrocuted recently by an illegal electric fence installed outside the cop’s government quarters in Sector-23 of Chandigarh.

The stray dog was found dead Sunday morning. The accused has been identified as Randhir Singh. The police said that SI Randhir Singh was out of the station. He was booked under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 11 (1) (L) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. A case has been registered at the Sector-17 police station.

“The dog was found dead yesterday (Sunday) morning by local residents. One of them had gone close to the dog and found a tangled wire in its mouth. As he touched the wire, he got a mild electric shock… The dead dog was buried after a post-mortem examination,” a police officer said.
