The Chandigarh Police, during its probe of the Rs 1.65 crore alleged parking scam in the city, has learnt that accused businessman Anil
Kumar Sharma and his accountant Ajay Kumar used to incorporate shell companies in the name of employees of their company.
These companies, the police said, was later used to grab allotment of parking tenders that were issued by municipal corporations in various cities, including Chandigarh, Delhi and Bhopal.
Police said that accused Anil Kumar Sharma is the business partner of Sanjay Sharma, director of the M/s Pashatya Entertainment Pvt Ltd, who was arrested earlier this month. Both Anil Kumar Sharma, and his accountant Ajay Kumar, are also in police custody.
A senior police officer said, “Anil Kumar Sharma obtained GST registration number on forged documents of fake firms. In the present case, there are three fake bank guarantees, amounting to Rs 1.65 crore, which were submitted by Anil before the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and all the parking lots allotted to MS Pashchatya Entertainment Pvt Ltd were running under his supervision. The parking fees collected from Chandigarh has been diverted by the accused to get OTS done against one of his NPA account. Similarly, fake bank guarantees were also submitted by accused Anil Sharma in the Municipal Corporation of Bhopal (MP), to get parking tenders.”
Police said that accused Anil Kumar Sharma used to get the parking tender allotted and later not deposit the license fees. The accused also further raised a dispute regarding concession in licence fees or waiving off licence fees and filed cases in court.
Accused Anil Kumar Sharma registered the company, M/S Pashchatya Entertainment Parking
Services (India) Ltd, and was run it concurrently with M/S Pashchatya Entertainment Private Limited.
