The Mulligans and Punjab Aces stormed into the final with an identical 4-3 win over their respective opponents in the semi-finals of the fourth edition of the Chandigarh Golf League being played at Chandigarh Golf Course.
In the first semi-final, The Mulligans faced Sultans of Swing. Tarun Veer Singh Lehal won the first singles game with a 5&4 win to give the Sultans of Swing a 1-0 lead. Angad Sangha won the second singles game 5&3 to put The Mulligans at 1-1 against Sultans of Swing. The pair of Saurabh Singh Manga and R S Cheema then scored a 3&1 win to put the Sultans of Swing ahead by 2-1 before Dilsher Sukhija and Sampat Singh scored a 4&3 win to see Sultans of Swing lead by 3-1.
The last two four ball games saw Bismad Singh and Angad Singh Matharoo winning the game, followed by Amrinder Singh and Jaskeerat Singh Matharoo of The Mulligans winning the game to make the scoreboard read 3-3. The last four ball game saw the pair of Gaurhar Pruthi and Surinder Jit Singh of The Mulligans winning the game to hand The Mulligans the 4-3 win and a spot in the final.
In the second semi-final between Punjab Aces and last year’s joint winners Captain’s 18, Mivaan Singh won the first singles game 6&5 to put the Aces ahead by 1-0 in the match. H S Kang then won his singles match 2&1 for Captain’s 18 to make the score board read 1-1. The pair of Grewal and Akshay Verma then won the four ball game for the Aces to make it 2-1 in the flout of the team, followed by the pair of Balpreet Ghuman and Gursharan Grewal winning the four ball game 2&1 to make it 4-1 in the favour of the Aces. Paramjit Singh Sandhu and R S Mann won the four ball game 2&1 for the Captain’s 18, followed by a 3&2 win for the pair of A S Bajwa and Saurabh Nagpal for Captain’s 18 as the team lost the semi-final 3-4.
The final of the league will be played on Saturday after the third-place match between Sultans of Swing and Captain’s 18 is played. A total of 21 teams, including 378 players, competed in the league in the fourth edition of the league.
