The Chandigarh administration has advised people to book cabs having only yellow commercial number plates through two companies Ola and Uber.
The Chandigarh Administration has granted aggregator licence to two companies, namely OLA and Uber, to provide cab services in UT Chandigarh.
“General public is hereby advised to book cabs having yellow commercial number plates through these two companies for the safety of the general public and not to book cabs through un-registered app-based aggregator companies,” the UT Administration said.
It was specified that “it is also advised not to travel in cab/bike having private number (white plate) which is illegal, failing which strict legal action will be taken against passengers as well as drivers of private vehicle. The panic buttons are also installed in the commercial cabs which can be pressed in emergency”.
The Chandigarh Administration has fixed the maximum fare rate for cabs as Rs 34 per kilometer in UT Chandigarh.
If any cab operator / company over-charges the fare, the UT stated that the STA office may be contacted on telephone number 0172-2700159 or email sta18-chd@nic.in immediately.
Also, it was said that if any cab operator takes wrong route or lengthy route, the commuter may press panic button and call police helpline 112 immediately.
