Canadian paraglider missing in Himachal Pradesh

The Canadian had taken off from a paragliding site in Kangra district’s Bir-Billing.

A 27-year-old Canadian woman crash-landed in the Dhauladhar mountain range while paragliding in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.

While rescuers have zeroed in on Megan Elizabeth Roberts’s coordinates, they have not managed to rescue her yet owing to visibility issues. Operations will resume on Monday, officials said.

Baijnath SDM Sankalp Gautam said: “Due to low visibility, the chopper could not rescue the paraglider. But we have identified the location through GPS coordinates, and a rescuer has been airdropped. However, we are still not sure whether she is alive or not. The rescue operation will continue on Monday.”

The Canadian had taken off from a paragliding site in Kangra district’s Bir-Billing.

The Billing Paragliding Association too arranged a private chopper to conduct a search.
