Congress leader Pargat Singh Friday said that there is a huge gap between what the Railway Ministry and the Union Railway Minister promised regarding Chhath Puja preparations, passenger safety, and travel facilities and the ground reality
After interacting with passengers travelling to Bihar, the All India Congress Committee Secretary said that the railways have failed to provide even basic amenities. He added that Railway Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu is busy making “reels and videos” rather than addressing the real issues faced by travellers. “Bittu is not a Rail Minister but a Reel Minister.”
He added that many travellers complained about the lack of drinking water and inadequate seating facilities at the station. They also reported difficulties at ticket counters.
“Several passengers were unaware that special trains had been arranged and were still waiting for the regular weekly trains. The railways should have planned thoroughly for passengers travelling from Punjab to Bihar for Chhath Puja. Simply adding more special trains is not sufficient—passenger welfare and basic facilities must be ensured,” he said, adding that proper preparations would have prevented the chaos, vandalism, and incidents of stone-pelting on railway premises.
In response to a question about the Bihar elections, he said that the INDIA Alliance will form the government by winning a majority of seats. “There is complete unity within the alliance; minor seat-sharing issues in certain constituencies are being resolved through dialogue and will be finalised within a day or two,” he said.
