Binny fashions Heavens Club’s triumph

Riding high on Binny's superb knock of 55 runs,Heavens Cricket Club recorded a three-wicket triumph over Jain Cricket Club in a match played at the Military Ground in Patiala.

Patiala: Riding high on Binny’s superb knock of 55 runs,Heavens Cricket Club recorded a three-wicket triumph over Jain Cricket Club in a match played at the Military Ground in Patiala. On winning the toss,Jain Cricket Club decided to bat first. Led by Shiv Kumar (54) and Gagnature (52),Jain Cricket Club posted a total of 182 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. In reply,Heavens Cricket Club chased down the target in 49.2 overs. Binny anchored Heavens Club to victory by scoring 55 runs. Binny was declared as man of the match.

Brief scores: Jain Cricket Club:182 for 9 in 50 overs (Shiv Kumar 54,Gagnature 52,SP Singh 49,H Dhiman 2 for 37,Lakhvir 1 for 21,Kulwinder 1 for 26,Bhupinder 1 for 30) lost to Heavens Club: 185 for 7 in 49.2 overs (Binny 55,Beant Singh 33,Kanti 25,Aman Kumar 3 for 32,Rocky 2 for 29,Gagan Jain 2 for 23).

Fatehgarh Sahib team announced

CHANDIGARH: Amanpreet Singh will lead Fatehgarh Sahib district cricket team which will participate in the Katoch Shield (Plate group) Inter-District cricket tournament to be organised by the Punjab Cricket Association from August 23 onwards. Fatehgarh Sahib will play its first match against Hoshiarpur on August 23 at Hoshiarpur.

Other members of the team are: Rahul Chabbra,Sanjay Kumar,Sarbjit Singh,Ramneet Singh,Daksh Aggarwal,Satpreet Singh,Amritinder Singh,Karan Aggarwal,Devinder Singh,Sunil Kumar,Simran Singh,Kanwaljit Singh,Nirvair Singh and Rajat Sharma. Manager: Dilshad Rana.

Second round of Katoch Shield from today

Chandigarh: With the first round of the Katoch Shield gotten over,Amritsar and Chandigarh logged three points each while Mohali and Ludhiana bagged one point each. Playing in Chandigarh,Patiala grabbed three points while Jalandhar had to contend with one point. The second round of the matches will get underway from August 21 with Chandigarh taking on Patiala at GMSSS,Sector 26,Chandigarh,Jalandhar crossing swords with Mohali at PCA Stadium Mohali while Ludhiana will take on Amritsar at Gandhi Grounds Amritsar. All matches will be of four days duration and will start at 9.30 a.m everyday.
