Colin Wilson is a very happy man. Producer of Kathryn Bigelows Zero Dark 30,Wilson says India is the place to be in. I dont know about what the film fraternity says, but Mumbai is one of the film capitals of the world, he says.
For someone who has produced Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar,Munich and War of the Worlds,Wilsons laying his bets on India, especially at a time when Anil Ambani backed films (War Horse) made it to the Oscars. Its certainly a great territory with great investment potential for films, points out Wilson. He,along with co-producer Mark Boal,Bigelow, actor Jessica Chastain and crew members were special guests of honour at a golf tournament in Chandigarh Golf Club on Sunday.
Stars from Bollywood including Sunny Deol,Abhay Deol,Sanjay Dutt,Kirron Kher and Sikandar Kher too were in attendance. The greens had a red carpet feel as Harbhajan Mann,Jeev Milkha Singh,Neeru Bajwa,Lakhwinder Wadali joined in for a sunny Sunday brunch.
Chandigarh has been fabulous, and we will definitely return to make another film, hopefully a romantic one, says Boal, thanking the cops and the people in making their shoot and stay successful. While he stayed elusive and refused to answer more than two questions,Bigelow preferred to stay with her crew, soaking in the sun and drinks. Its her off day and wed rather not talk about the film, Boal acts as a bodyguard, watching his team like a hawk.
In the meantime,Wilson shared how he would love to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar. I have heard so much about it,and to visit India, one needs a whole holiday. Boal agrees. This country has so much to offer in terms of travel and destinations, says Boal while Wilson cant praise the Indian people enough. I love the attitude of Indians, there is so much diversity in religion and culture, yet everyone has such a great outlook to life, remarks Wilson. Talk to him about films, and this Britisher shares that its the love and passion for filmmaking that got him into the profession. As for Boal,he is an investigative journalist turned writer, and was the screenwriter for The Hurt Locker,Bigelows Oscar winning film.
The game tees off,and the greens turn starry with the Deols and Dutt. In his Sikh avatar,Sunny confesses that while he is getting all sardar roles and will be seen in another one,he still hasnt learnt how to tie the turban. I have to start golf too. I know nothing of the game, he says. So does Dutt, who is all set to start work on Munna Bhai part three. And no,its not set in America. Shooting in Patiala for Son of Sardar,Dutt will soon start shoot on Soham Shahs next film on a real life robinhood Sharman Munjha Jadeja from Porbandar Gujarat. Will we see him in Bigg Boss next year? I would love to.This time too I was like an elder brother,a part of their family, says Dutt, more interested to know about Bigelows film. Why would they shoot in Chandigarh? Why not Pakistan? Well, thats a different story.
