Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal Sunday called for action against all anti-Punjab and anti-Panth forces who are working to defame and weaken Sikh institutions, leaders and traditions.
“The real aim of the vicious attack on SAD is to dilute and destroy the unique separate identity of Khalsa Panth,” said Badal while addressing a gathering on the 38th death anniversary of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal at his native village of Longowal town of Sangrur district. “How did these forces usurp control over Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC)?”
He expressed sadness over the visuals coming from HSGMC meeting where the members were seen abusing and manhandling each other.
Hailing Sant Longowal as a messiah of peace and communal harmony, Badal said that not only SAD but all coming generations will always be inspired by the example of the great messiah and his commitment to Punjab, Panth and service of humanity.
Badal questioned the silence of so-called “Dharmik Sikh personalities and Jathebandis” over various sacrilege incidents of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the state in recent days. “Was the religious fervour of these Sikh personalities only a cover for venting poison and spleen on the Akali govt? Where is their religious hurt now when incidents of sacrilege against Sri Guru Granth Sahib are occurring every now and then?”
Lashing out against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Badal said that the CM and his colleagues have reduced the serious task of governance to a sick joke at a time when the people of Punjab are battling a grave natural tragedy.
“They are cracking jokes while people are forced to abandon their homes and farms, and sleep under the open skies in this inclement weather. While this tragedy goes on, the CM is acting as chauffeur of his master Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal or escorting him to different parts of the country.”
