Parsvnath case: Arbitrators yet to file response despite notice
CHANDIGARH: The three arbitrators appointed to adjudicate the dispute between Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) and Parsvnath with regard to the Prideasia project have yet to file their responses to a petition filed by CHB against the “exorbitant” fees charged by the arbitrators. The petition,on Friday,came up for resumed hearing but was adjourned to second week of September. Clarifying that no relief has been sought against Parsvnath,the Chandigarh Administration,on the last date of hearing,had insisted that the three arbitrators should respond to the petition filed by the Administration. Though notices have been served to the three arbitrators,no reply has been filed. Senior standing counsel for the Administration Sanjay Kaushal had insisted that the arbitrators must respond to contentions raised by the Administration. A Bench headed by Justice Hemant Gupta had made it clear that if the arbitrators do not respond to the petitions,then they will proceed ex parte.
Child labourers found in Dadumajra sweetshop
Chandigarh: A team from the Labour Department conducted check at a sweet shop in Dadumajra and found four children working there. Officials state that the children were below 14 years of age. The team conducted a check after receiving a complaint about child labour at the shop. A labour inspector noted down the particulars of the children. The owner of the shop was asked to submit the relevant documents. A challan will be issued on Monday.
Three bodies found near Punjab border
AMBALA: Three unidentified bodies were found in the fields near Babaheri village. The bodies of two children and a woman bore injury marks on their neck and other parts of the body. Police estimated the age of the woman to be 35 and the two children between 5 and 7. Preliminary investigations reveal that the cause of death may have been caused by slitting the neck with a sharp weapon. ASP Devinder Yadav said that it seemed the dead bodies were thrown at Babaheri after killing the woman and two children. He said that Punjab police was being contacted for investigation since Babaheri village is in Punjab and the miscreants might have thrown the dead bodies across the border. The bodies have been taken to the civil hospital for postmortem.
Woman commits suicide
AMBALA: Asha Rani wife of a Lance Naik was found hanging at her residence in Panipat Lines of Army area Ambala Cantonment on Friday. The woman had allegedly committed suicide by hanging while her husband was on duty. The body was taken to a hospital for postmortem. The police said the cause of suicide could not be determined,but that an investigation was in progress.
