Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh claimed that he was with Amritpal when the police began to chase them.

Speaking to a web channel, he said that they had thought the police wanted to stop them from going to Muktsar to start Khalsa Vaheer, a religious procession that promotes baptism.

He said he came out of the car to talk to the cops and when he returned Amritpal and his two security guards were not in the car. “I have seen some videos and believe that he has been arrested.”

Harjit Singh, who is also on the run, claimed that he was ready to surrender. He said that he was willing to surrender to a nearby Gurudwara in the morning if the police does not come to arrest him. “I am in a Mercedes, I am quite close to the place where we were stopped,” he said.

He further claimed that all the weapons recovered by the police were licensed. He also questioned why someone would keep illegal weapons like 12 bore.

Denying allegations about Amritpal’s links with ISI, Harjit said, “Some say Amritpal Singh is BJP’s agent. Other say he is an Akali agent. These allegations have been made for long”.
