Afternoon bus service set to start for govt schools

The routes for the buses have been chalked out. “In the present scenario,the afternoon service may cater only to some schools but things are expected to look up with the proposal of around 90 more buses being added to the existing fleet of CTU,” says an official from the education department.

The bus beginning at GGMSSS 18 till Zirakpur starts at 2.10 pm and plies via the Sector 19 market,27 market,27/26,Grain Market,railway station,railway crossing,Darua,Vikas Nagar,Mauli Jagran,Raipur Kalan,Harmilap Nagar and Baltana. Two of these buses culminate at Manimajra. One begins from ISBT 17 at 2 pm via 17/18,8/18,7/19,26/27,Grain Market,Transport Area,MH Complex,MM Town and Indira Colony. The other one begins at 2 pm from PGI and culminates at Manimajra via 14/15,24/15,23/16,ISBT 17,18/21,19/20,27/30,28/29,Colony no 4,CTU workshop,Railway Station and Housing Board.

Another bus runs from ISBT 17 to the airport and covers 22 market,21 market,20 market,30 market,29 market,Industrial Area I,colony no 4 and Hallomajra on the way. The fifth bus,also starting at ISBT 17 reaches Ramdarbar via 22/23,22 market,21 market,20 market,20/30,32 market,31/32 and 47 market.

The existing bus in service from GGMSSS 18 ran at the usual timing of 2.10 pm during the September examinations even as the dismissal timings were advanced for all classes. The education department officials attribute the delay in beginning of the rest of the afternoon buses,however,to the decision to ‘wait out’ the examinations.
