High drama prevailed outside a private hotel in Sector 35 when the police control room received a call that a girl has been kidnapped in a white Alto car by four youths. The police reached the spot and questioned all those present there. It was found that the girl,believed to be an NRI,had gone with four youths in the car,which gave the passersby an impression that the girl was being kidnapped. While the police have ruled out kidnapping,they are investigating the incident and also scrutinising the CCTV footage.
As per information received by the control room at 7 pm,the girl was kidnapped by four youths outside Himani Hotel in a car number HR03 L 1781. The caller told the police that the girl,who appeared to be a college student,was in an inebriated state and was not even able to stand. Eyewitnesses told the police that first the four youths and the girl were sitting across separate tables in the hotel. They then sat together and had drinks,following which the girl went along with them. A passerby who saw the drunk girl being taken away by four men called the police to say she had been kidnapped.
The police are examining the CCTV footage of the hotel and are also trying to trace the Alto car. It doesnt seem to be a case of kidnapping in the literal sense as the girl seemed to have gone with the youths willingly. She was drunk and also had an argument with the hotel authorities over payment of bill. We are investigating, said DSP Satbir Singh.
