Led by Kuldeep Singh Kuki, state co-secretary, hundreds of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters and Dhanas Milk Colony residents marched in protest against the BJP-run Municipal Corporation and administration on Sunday, citing broken roads, mounting garbage, and neglected parks.

The protest saw participation from senior leaders, including Vijaypal Singh, Omkar Singh Aulakh, Vikrant Tanwar, P P Ghai, Harjinder Bawa, councillors Jasbir Singh Laddi and Yogesh Dhingra, Lalit Mohan, Des Raj, Shadab Rathi, and Naresh Garg.

Vijaypal Singh, state president, alleged that the condition of Dhanas exposes rampant negligence and arrogance by the BJP. He claimed AAP councillors were assaulted and evicted from the Municipal Corporation House when they demanded urgent repairs of key residential roads. “Instead of addressing basic civic issues, the mayor resorts to foreign trips while taxpayers’ money should be spent on improving infrastructure,” Singh said, questioning the funding of recent official travel abroad.

Singh also criticised the cancellation of this month’s Municipal House meeting due to the mayor’s overseas trip, stating that citizens’ grievances remain pending. He raised concerns about the abrupt removal of the Chief Engineer, questioning the motive and the lack of accountability over civic works.

According to Singh, promises made by the BJP regarding expansion of Lal Dora and granting ownership rights to Housing Board allottees remain unfulfilled. Branding the ruling party as “government of false promises”, he accused the administration of apathy, pointing to broken roads, overflowing garbage, and dried-up parks.
